There's No Place Like Home

Sorry I've MIA for a while. On the first of July I returned to my home land, aka the wonderful Peach state. I'm so excited to be home until the second week of August, but I'm already getting anxious that I'm not going to have enough time to do everything that I want to do. I do not like being home on a time limit. It just doesn't seem fair. But enough whining and complaining. I've decided to make a bucket list of what I want to do before I leave to start my second and final year of grad school. PS: I'm leaving on vacation not this Saturday, but the next. If you want a postcard email me at elysiepiecie{at}gmail.com.

Go to a laser show at Stone Mountain.

Get together with the lovely Jenn and go see Winnie the Pooh. Don't judge.

Drink as many Coke icees from Racetrac as is humanly possible.

Go to the lake and see my Aunt Patti and Uncle Jim for the day.

Read as many fun books as possible before I have to start reading the serious stuff for school.

Go to the Jersey Shore.

Not get sunburnt (I'm unusually pale for this time of year).

Not gain a bazillion lbs back (and actually lose some) while being at home.

Go to a Braves game.

See Harry Potter a bazillion times.

Go take pictures of "Mystic Falls" so I can show ya'll have close I actually live to it.

I'm trying my best to get together with all my friends and family before I leave, but for if I don't get to see you this time let me go ahead an apologize. I'm trying to spend as much time with my Mumsie Dearest and Daddy O as possible. I'll post as to why later, but I just feel like it needs to be done.

Well it's not much of a bucket list, but if ya'll think of something I should add, just let me know. And don't forget if you want a postcard send me your address or if I already have it, just leave a comment :D

Georgia on my Mind...

So, I know I've already done one of these posts about how much I love Georgia...but guess what?? I'm doing another one. Anyways, that's my ode to Georgia for the moment. I love being a Georgia Peach, even though technically we don't grow the most peaches. That'd be California. Really we grow the most peanuts, but nobody wants to be a Georgia Goober. I love my home state so much and I miss it. So here's a list of why Georgia is awesome.

  • Georgia is attracting a lot of super cool production companies. Just a few shows/movies that are/were filmed here. The Vampire Diaries (filmed the next town over from my house), The Dukes of Hazzard, Deliverance, Glory (actually filmed 5 minutes from my house), all the Tyler Perry stuff, potentially The Hunger Games, Zombieland. Just to name a few, but the list goes on longer.

  • We have super cool songs written about us: Georgia on my Mind --I adore both the original and Buble's version; Statesboro Blues -- Allman Brothers are a must; The Devil Went Down to Georgia; Midnight Train to Georgia; The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia; Why Georgia.

  • My family and friends live there...but that's just an obvious reason.

  • People in Georgia are actually polite. I know that not everyone from the south will ask you "How are you?" and genuinely mean it or say "yes ma'am" or "no sir", but it's more common than anywhere else I've been. Being in the Midwest has made me miss this southern hospitality.

  • Super cool people are from or live in Georgia. I.e. Me (just kidding, but seriously), Ludacris, Usher, the Biebs (don't judge us for that one), Ryan Seacrest, Jimmy Carter, Paula Deen...just to name a few.

  • I know a lot of people can say this, but I love the history. I worked in the town where Gone with the Wind was based. I worked right down the street from Ashley Oak's plantation. Yes, he's real. Sherman burnt down where I live. I love on old Plantation land. It's just teeming with history.

  • The trees. Georgia has beautiful trees...which is something severely lacking in the Midwest.

Alrighty, that little rant is over. But seriously, I do love Georgia.

Georgia On My Mind

So tomorrow, Friday the 13th (dun dun dun), I'm moving to St Louis. Besides my family and friends that I'll miss (because that's a given), here are the creature comforts and familiar places that I'll miss...

1. The glow in the dark stars on my ceiling. I've had these suckers up since 7th or 8th grade. That means they've been sticking up there at least 13 years. I'll miss gazing at these at night.

2. My puppy, Patches. Well, technically he's not a puppy, he'll be 15 in November, but he'll always be a puppy to me.

3.

Thanks Skyscraper Forum for the picture.

The Bank of America building in Atlanta...or as I refer to it, the Pencil Building. Seriously, it looks like a pencil at the top. I can't stand Bank of America, but the building is so pretty when all lit up at night.

4. My swimming pool and hot tub in my backyard. I'm seriously a pool snob, I've had a pool in my backyard since I was 10. I love being able to sit in the pool during the summer reading a book on the edge. During the winter, one of my favorite things to do is get in the hot tub and stare up at the pretty stars while looking at my breathe get all frosty. I'll miss this.

5. Waffle House. Don't knock it. It's amazing, with their scattered and covered hashbrowns and waffles...not that I can finish either when I order them together.

6. Mayfield Milk. The magical milk in the magical yellow jug in which no other milk can compare. I can drink a gallon of milk all by myself in half a week, and I'll going to be going through withdrawals.

7. Race Trak Icees. They don't have them out in St. Louis and my heart hurts thinking about it :(

8. Chick-fil-a. They don't have these things out in St. Louis. I was raised on them and Truett Cathy, the founder, has such an amazing business ethic that I admire so much. Their lemonade is to die for.

9. My happy yellow house. It always looks cheery no matter how gloomy it is. I feel like you can see how much love went into the house, even from the outside.

10.

99x. I'm a total 99x girl. I've been listing to them since they first started up in the 90s, followed them on the Internet when they took a couple year vacation, and talked them up so much when they returned to the air. I'm a loyal 99x listener and will always be. I'll be listening to them stream online, but I'm sad that I won't be able to rock out in my car
