Must Have Monday!!

So I decided to play along with Always Alexandria's Must Have Mondays. I thought it was a really cute idea and I've got a long wish list of things I really want, but I'm a broke grad here's to dreaming about my must haves.

Dear Modcloth, please carry clothes that will fit my boobs. Or maybe I should just find a super restricting bra so I can button up this coat.

I love this dress from Timeless Vixen's Etsy shop. I don't know what I would wear it to, but I want it. I know it's sold, but seriously, if it was cheaper that baby would've been mine.

I have a little obsession with gnomes. They're pretty much my favorite. I think I need this apron, even though my Mama points out that I'm too messy for a half apron.

I've had my eye on this necklace for months. I love tea cups.

This jacket reminds me of my Pap-Pap's real bomber jacket that I'm not allowed to wear. So until I get to wear his...this one would work. But considering the price, I'm pretty sure that I'll get to wear his before this one.

Isn't it fun to dream what you'd buy if you could actually afford it? Maybe one day I'll strike it rich and be able to actually purchase some of these things. What's on your must haves list?

Banned Book Week

Censoring what people read is not cool, especially when books like Speak, To Kill a Mockingbird and Catcher in the Rye (3 of my favorites) are banned books. I always hated that my local library never had books that had the slightest bit of controversy. Now that I'm a big girl out in the world, I have access to all these books, but my heart goes to those who do not. I wish the world wasn't so small minded. To me books help broaden our mind, foster imagination, and give us a little hidey hole to go to when reality can be just a little too much.

You can buy this poster here.

Here's a list of this year's newly challenged or banned books, which includes Twilight and The House of Night novels...just to name a couple. I'm sure The Hunger Games will eventually make the list too. Banned Book Week runs from September 25th-October 2nd. Celebrate by going out and and reading a banned book.

Up up and away...

I've been obsessed with hot air balloons for as long as I can remember. I've always wanted to go out to the big festival out in New Mexico, but I've never had the chance. So when I found out that Saint Louis had their own balloon race I got super excited. I didn't go to the race, but I went to the balloon lighting which was one of the coolest thing I've ever been to.

Please love me as I've had this song stuck in my head ever since....

Anywho, enough with the Nancy Sinatra...

Please ignore all the dust in the pictures...apparently it's from the smoke the balloons create.

Oh and meet my new alter ego...Funnel Cake Face. I go around acting all ninja like and being over all awesome. That is until my new camera's screen cracked mysteriously. Sad face.

What did ya'll do this weekend?

Fill in the blank Friday!!!!

1. When I get a day to myself usually, I find a really good book and just sit and read. Sometimes I do some cleaning. No matter what I do though, it's always nice knowing that there is no pressure to do anything.

2. High school was.... good for me. I had a close knit group of friends that I loved. I still keep in touch with the majority of them. I worried a lot about whether people liked me and if I was fat...I look back at pictures from then and want to kick myself.

3. A little dream I have is to travel. I would love to pick up and go anywhere at anytime. I wish I was a free spirit like that, but I'm not.

4. A big dream I have is to have a love family and a house with an amazing library. Floor to ceiling with ladders and everything.

5. If I could drive any car I can't decide! I've got racing in my blood, so it needs to be fast and pretty. I've always wanted an old Bug that I can paint on and make it look happy.

6. A time that I felt really and truly beautiful hmmm...I'll have to think about this one and let ya'll know.

7. Tomorrow I will.... be doing homework. Yuck.

If you want to play along, make sure you link up with Lauren's blog! Have a Happy Friday!

There is hope...

For those of you who are waiting for their knight in shining armor, their stupid shiny Volvo owner, and their boy with the bread, never fear, there is still hope that chivalry is not dead.

Tonight at the Mercantile Library, there was a lecture from some important historian and it was a full house. No where to sit at all. Two girls came straggling in late and started to stand in the back. Two guys, from totally different sides of the room, stood up and offered their seats to these girls. It was a simple gesture, but it melted my heart and showed me that in fact, chivalry is not dead.

It's that time again...

It's fill in the blank Friday! If you play along make sure you link up with Lauren's blog.

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is escargot. My uncle talked me into eating it. It was actually pretty good.

2. I wouldn't be caught dead in...this is a hard one, because I feel like if I say you'll never catch me dead in something, the fates will play a mean trick on me and you'll see me in it. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't catch me in a velour sweatsuit though.

3. When I am 75 I will hopefully be a fiesty old firecracker, surrounded by all my friends and family.

4. If I had to be named after a place I would want to be named Angela, after Port Angeles. They would call me Angie. Oh, or Savannah after Savannah GA.

5. My name is Elyse after Elise in Somewhere in Time and the spelling came from a sweet old lady my mom knew. Nicole...not sure where that came from. I guess I should ask.

6. My all time favorite photo...this is a hard one for me because I can't decide. One of my favorites is a picture of one of my friends Stacey and I in Orlando. I also love this one photo of my Paw-Paw from the 50s when he is wearing a blue jean jacket, looking very handsome.

7. If I could afford it I would be a jetsetting fool. You could not keep me from exploring the world.

So my friends, I have a love of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I ate these things every single day back of school...there was a rare break for bologna or turkey sandwiches here or there...but they've been a constant in my life. When I don't know what to fix, I always fall back on them. The peanut butter has to be Skippy's Honey Roasted and the jelly would be preferably be one of the following: grape, strawberry, apple, apricot, strawberry rhubarb, or huckleberry. But why are we talking about PB&Js?

Because no one makes them better than my Daddy O! He's got the proper portions of both peanut butter and jelly that I can't seem to recreate. I love my Daddy O and miss him dearly. I can't wait to go home in November to get a delicious Daddy PB&J.

And here's hoping he won't kill me for posting this picture of him sleeping with my puppy.

Anybody else crave things that only their parents can make just right?

So this isn't my favorite Katy Perry song, although it's growing on me. The lyrics really touched my heart though. I'm ready to show people what I'm worth. I'm ready to show my true self to people, I'm finally feeling comfortable in my own skin (kind of). Being in a new city, I can start fresh. People can't judge me here...well they can...but they're starting from a fresh slate, no preconceived notions. Maybe I'll actually be able to fall in love here. I'm ready to start living my life, so get ready, because I'm going ignite the light and let my true self shine.

Remember that time...

Remember that time that I went to a book signing all by myself?

Remember that time that I got really excited because I was going to get my book signed from the creator of the lovely Jace Wayland?

Well, if you don't here's a recollection of what happened...

I got to sit front row at a Cassie Clare book signing. Yes, she looked at me and talked to me.

This is Cassie going, "Hey you know that girl sitting over there (talking about me of course) she's totally legit." Or maybe not, but she did talk to me about steampunk, which was pretty nifty.

I met some lovely people there and I was happy that I wasn't the oldest Cassie Clare fan there.

Anywho, it came time to get my book signed, when I got to snap a picture with Cassie. We weren't allowed to go behind the table, but I got to do the lean over thing.

This is what makes me happy right now. Here's to hoping this book will make me go, Peeta who?

Vintage Vinyl

So I've been doing some exploring in St Louis and I've been looking for that perfect little spot that has all the cool thrift stores and restaurants. Well, I've found that spot and it's called The Loop. I went later at night with some friends, yes I have friends! Aren't you shocked??? Anywho, I went later at night on Saturday and all the shops were closed except for one...Vintage Vinyl. Vintage Vinyl reminds me a bit of Empire Records(If you haven't seen that movie, go get it!), it's opened until midnight and it's got a great selection of vinyl. I decided to go with this gem...

It's back when The Beatles weren't the Fab Four, but rather the Fab Five. It's back when they first got started and Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best were in the band. Eventually they got rid of those two and added Ringo and became one of the best groups of all time. Anywho, I just thought I'd show off my find. I'm pretty proud of it.
